Horgan’s Delicatessen Supplies, Mitchelstown, are delighted to be among a number of Irish speciality food producers who have had huge success in the UK, at the Great Taste Awards 2023. This year, Horgans have been awarded with a record number of seven awards for various products across their range.
The Great Taste Awards are the world’s largest and most trusted speciality food awards. Judged by a panel of over 400 acclaimed food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, producers and a host of food writers and journalists, the awards are widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for speciality food producers. Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with branding and packaging of products ignored in the judging process.
Horgan’s are especially thrilled to have been honoured with a Two Gold Star award this year for it’s Irish Silverside Spiced Beef, the recipe for which has been passed down through the generations of the Horgan family. The business was founded originally by Michael Horgan’s Grandfather who ran a butcher shop in Mitchelstown. Horgan’s Irish Silverside Spiced Beed is a already a firm favourite among Horgan’s loyal customer base and already in high demand for Christmas 2023.
A Two Gold Star Award signifies a product that is “Outstanding” and “Above and Beyond Delicious”.
Horgans have also received several other Gold Star Awards this year, for Horgan’s Authentic New York Style Pastrami, as well as a number of awards for their outstanding retail pack range of Olives and Antipasti including:

The judges comments and feedback on these products has been exceptional. These products are hugely popular with Horgan’s customers for inclusion in sharing boards and platters, with one judge commenting that these products are “Perfect for that end of day sundowner”.
